Celebrating 15 years with GRGWA

After 15 years, NMFWRI is celebrating the completion of our work with the Greater Rio Grande Watershed Alliance (GRGWA), a partnership that has supported watershed restoration (primarily through invasive species removal treatments), monitoring, and adaptive management throughout the Rio Grande watershed. Since 2011, this collaboration with the Claunch-Pinto Soil and Water Conservation District and partners has encompassed more than 4,000 acres and over 120 projects. This year, NMFWRI’s efforts included completing pre-treatment and 10-year post-treatment monitoring from Taos to the Pueblo of Sandia to Grants, publishing the Riparian Handbook, strengthening the project databases and geodatabase, and ensuring that 15 years of monitoring information will remain accessible for future learning. NMFWRI is grateful to Dee Tarr, Claunch-Pinto SWCD Manager, and all of our GRGWA partners for 15 years of collaboration, trust, and shared commitment to healthier watersheds.
