This summer, the Ecological Monitoring Program is excited to welcome several new team members based in Las Vegas. Joan Kuyo, Matthew Najera, and Mitchell Dennington have joined the 2026 summer field crew, where they will support upland monitoring and contract work with the New Mexico Department of Wildlife. All three bring strong interests in ecology, fieldwork, and environmental stewardship, along with diverse academic and research backgrounds from New Mexico Highlands University.
We are also pleased to welcome Taryn Schlosser as Crew Logistics Coordinator. In this role, Taryn will support field crews by coordinating equipment, logistics, and operational needs to help ensure safe and efficient field seasons.
The program is also celebrating several staff transitions this season. Alex Withnall has advanced from Technician Assistant to Technician and will continue supporting the Monitoring Program as part of the summer field crew. In addition, Jax Gaglianese-Woody will split their time this summer between Ecological Monitoring and the Conservation Science Program/FIRENM, contributing to fieldwork, quality assurance, workshop logistics, and outreach efforts across both programs. These additions and transitions reflect the continued growth and collaboration within NMFWRI’s field and monitoring programs.
